From the Introduction
The reality of war is that everyone gets wounded. Some wounds heal rapidly, but some last for a lifetime. The reality is that the wounds of heart, soul and spirit have a spiritual component that is not being adequately addressed. Despite the valiant efforts of many organizations and the commitment of billions of dollars to address these issues, there remains a serious gap the faith gap.
Major General Robert F. Dees, US Army (Retired), Executive Director, Military Ministry
From the Prologue
My family and I thought leaving the Army would remove me from the dangers of war. I had survived war and had come home, safe at last. Now I could focus on being a parent and a husband. But upon leaving the Army, I entered a different kind of fight: the war for my own heart and mind. I went face-to-face with my memories, with the horrors and stresses of combat-and lost.
Questions and doubts ravaged my mind: Why did I survive and my men die? Why did they send me there? Why does God allow such terrible wars to happen? Why cant I feel anything?
Ashamed of the man I had become and unable to reconcile war, I reached a breaking point. I was highly praised and decorated for leadership under fire-yet I anguished in the aftermath of war. I realized I was about to lose everything: my marriage, my family, even my life. I had led a daring rescue mission and found myself in dire need of rescuing. I had fought to keep a promise-to never leave a fallen comrade-but who would keep that promise to me?

3. Sadness / Grief - Do you often feel sad or experience grief?
4. Meaning / Purpose - Do you feel that life has no meaning or purpose?
5. Despair / Hopeless - Do you often feel despair or hopeless?
6. Fairness - Do you feel that God or life has treated you unfairly?
7. Doubts / Disbelief Do you worry about your doubts about / disbelief in God?
8. Fear of Death - Do you worry about or fear death?

It is our dream at the Re-Ignition Project to partner with Alwaken and develop this resource into a foundational, best practice tool available to US Military & Veterans
Making the World Human Again is the eye-opening first book from innovative thinker Alex McManus. His premise is simple: contrary to popular opinion, Jesus Christ came neither to teach Christianity nor to establish a religion. He came to make the world human again.
What is Jesus' role in the 21st century "post-Christian" world? Author Alex McManus offers an answer sure to get people talking.
According to McManus, contrary to popular opinion, Jesus Christ came neither to teach Christianity nor to establish a religionat least as "Christianity" and "religion" are commonly understood. He came to make the world human again. The goal of the life and teaching of Jesus is to reconnect us with the human future God is creating and to enlist our willing participation. What Jesus wants for all peoplewhether religious or secular, Republican or Democrat, liberal or conservativeis that they turn away from destructive, non life-giving systems and join him in the quest to "take back the future" for humanity.
This first book from McManus seeks to:
• Strengthen the message of the 21st century church
• Reach Christians outside traditional evangelicalism
• Include the questions non-Christian seekers have about God
It is our dream at the Re-Ignition Project to partner with Alex and develop this resource into a foundational, best practice tool available to US Military & Veterans
Restoried Life Initiative
We believe that everyone who serves/served in the armed forces are to be honored as leaders in their families and communities. Leaders overcome trauma by the restorying of their lives in the process of retelling their story, remembering Gods story, and responding to the stories of others.
The potential for dealing with and overcoming trauma through stories is great. So often US Military and Veterans realize that traumas are simply a part of our life stories. In a sense, stories tell us that trauma is going to happen. Our life stories allow us to view our trauma in perspective. Stories have the power to reveal our trauma in context and expose their implications on life. When we recognize that our stories are broken, we begin to see that we need help to heal them. This is true whether we intend to replace our stories with another or create a new story. We make a logical assertion that we need a higher, greater, even an eternal story in the process of healing. Through responding to God's story we can learn to see anew and understand our traumas.
A leader who overcomes is one who is growing in the image of Christ, has had God retell the story of his life (moving towards a preferred future and new story in Christ), and has learned to live and lead as both receiving and giving grace. To receive grace is to be fully and profoundly aware of what God has done for you and continues to do for you in Jesus Christ. We identify with Peter's breakfast conversation with Jesus. To give grace is to respond to others near you in the image of God. We realize God's intent and purposes with Joseph. This person may seem insignificant by our estimation, utt in eternity they will be honored as a true disciple of Christ.
We are in the process of developing thie 'restoried life' [Principled Story] model to make it available for US Military and Veterans.
