Welcome!
Thank you for checking out The Re-Igniton Project and hearing our Story and Vision!
In the summer of 2006, I made a decision to move my family from Los Angeles, CA to Tampa, FL in order for my kids to be closer to my father. He is a Korean War Vet and his health has been a concern of mine. Over the past three years I have heard bits and pieces of his experiences and post-trauma from that conflict. As a result of seeking to provide care for my hero, I have had my eyes opened to the greater issues that face our nation, our US military, and our veterans as a result of the conflicts we have faced over the past 60 years [most recently - Operation Enduring Freedom & Operation Iraq Freedom].
The Re-Ignition Project is a leadership initiative of BNMI that seeks to Honor, Transition, & Impact US military & Veterans through the development, catalyzing, and launching of 'best practice' transitional care programs and intiitatives while addressing specific needs and questions that our armed forces face during transition.
We also seek to serve as a conduit to connect people to organizations interesting in impacting the culure & ethos of our military & veterans .Over the past year we of stepped up efforts to collaborate and partner wit h numerous organizations & departments including the Chief Chaplains Offices of the Army, Navy, & Air Force; the Comprehensive Soldiers Fitness Program; Strong Bonds; White House Center for Faith-Based & Communitiy Initiatives; the VA Center for Faith-Based & Community Iniitiatives; and the VA Chaplaincy Center.
The entire re-ignition team looks forward to journeying with you as we seek to honor, transform, and impact our military and veterans . . .

What its like Now
Today there are 1.4 million US Military troops, 400,000 Reservists and 500,000 National Guards. 80% of our active duty troops are between the ages of 18 & 24 [compared to 30% of the US general population]. With more than 300,000 troops returning with PTSD the need for care is unprecedented. More than 50% of returning soldiers are reluctant to utilize traditional services during re-engagement to US society. Recent reports state that 1 in 3 homeless males in our cities are veterans. The number of suicides among active duty service persons is alarming and both the DoD and VA are working to address this and the other pressing challenges faced by our military/vets, families, and care-givers.
Vision & Mission
The Re-Ignition Project is a leadership initiative of BNMIthat seeks to Honor, Transition, & Impact to bring about ethos/cultural change to the US military & veterans through the development, catalyzing, and launching of 'best practice,' holistic, transitional care programs that focus on four transitional, re-connecting processes & phases during transition [there is a great amount of stress during stages of military transitions that moves from Entry to Retirement - { Initial Training; First Assignment; PCS Transitions/Job & Leader Change; Selection/Schools/Promotions; Advanced Training; Deployments; Re-Integration }. The Leadership Re-ignition Process will focus on strengths, character, narrative intelligence, emotional health, and synergy & overcoming strategies. The Family Re-Union Process will focus on spouse and family re-engagement through peer coaching, counseling, seminars, & web-based mentoring. The Narrative Re-integration Process will focus on implementing a challenge & peer coaching process to recovery and overcoming in community while addressing the spiritual injury scale [guilt, anger, grief, purpose, despair, fairness, doubts, fear of death]. In addition, models like The Restoried-Life and Life-Mapping will be utilized. The Spiritual Re-Alignment Process will focus personal, contextual and community re-assertion/re-negotiation into best practices of spiritual formation and strategic multiplication.

A little Armed Services humor: . .
A United States Marine was attending some college courses between assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist, and a member of the ACLU.
One day the professor shocked the class when he came in. He looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, GOD if you are real then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes. The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, Here I am GOD, I'm still waiting.
It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him; knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold. The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently.
The other students were shocked and stunned, and sat there looking on in silence. The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked, What in the world is the matter with you? Why did you do that? The Marine calmly replied, GOD was busy today protecting America's soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid stuff and act like an idiot. So He sent me.
The classroom erupted in cheers!

The American Bible Society is helping service members, civilian workers and their families at Fort Hood deal with the aftermath of the recent tragic shootings.
It has been nearly two weeks since Major Nidal Hassan opened fire on his fellow colleagues in a rampage on the base that claimed 14 lives, including an unborn child.
Since then, the American Bible Society, through its Armed Services Ministry, has been ministering at Fort Hood.
Dr. John Edgar Caterson of the ministry says there are a number of needs that are being met.
"We provide resources that they're able to utilize that address the issues and needs that they're facing at times just like this," he explains. "There are resources that we've been developing with the Army Chaplain Corps in collaboration that address things like spiritual injury scale and how to overcome when you're dealing with situations of trauma."
The Armed Services Ministry has delivered nearly 60 million free Bible resources to America's armed forces since its formation in 1817.
